Times weren't conventional. Times weren't normal. A year ago feels like an eternity. Seconds feel like minutes. Minutes feel like hours. Hours and singular days feel like a prison waiting to get back in the world again in that way you used to know, a world that which may well be archaic...
What was this originally? It's an album's length but it wasn't that way. Is it an Album or an EP?
Or perhaps it's something else entirely? That's not your jurisdiction or mine. Perhaps it's just an oddity among oddities that can't really be explained. Yet this go around for "Barstow Deluxe" this is being mutated into a full album with two more compositions joining the fold. Outtakes bonding together to build on a foundation of fever dreams, city observations, unseen demons and anxiety-laden bursts.
Seven outsiders congregating together in amorphous and mysterious drone sounds...
Outsiders among Outsiders.
Whether you're a recurring listener or a curious new observer, take in this fresh discovery of outsider desert drones. Take in the heat from the resonance of the lampposts and natural Nevada heat in those shorter tracks. Muse on the tributes and subtle influences be it the fluttering shoegaze of "The Vampire Corsa", the lucid ambiance of "My Own Private Lamoreaux"or the sheer sonic overwhelming and lingering uncertainty of "A Trick of Limerence"...
In regards to the art and design I was deriving from themes of lingering memories, wandering spirits, symbolic links, a fusion of art & photography and an inherent embrace of the imperfect. Also keeping in mind it's almost five years since I began collaborating with Mr. Conley in Louisville in a time of questioning self-worth, rebuilding and in the long term, healing.
There's something to muse and meditate upon with these seven outsiders,
no matter your place or your link. Nashville? Louisville? Vegas? Tacoma?
Wherever your place may be it all links here. Find your redemption. Find your place of solace...
